Lady Lancers win District championship untouched

Don’t Stop Believin’. That was the slogan of the Lady Lancer volleyball team. They sported the slogan on their shirts and they even sang their own version of the song before every match. In the middle of the championship match, the Lafyatte Super Fans sang it too as the girls drew closer to the title.
The team finished the regular season on a high note with a huge win over Eureka to win the Suburban West and looked to carry that momentum into district play. They took the District title without dropping a single game.
The Lady Lancers looked good early with an easy 2-0 win over Parkway South in the first round of Districts. They took the first game 25-14. Then, took care of business even more quickly in game two taking that one by a final of 25-11.
The Lady Lancers second round match-up came against the same Eureka team they defeated to take the Conference crown. The girls had little trouble putting away the Wildcats 2-0. Game one finished at 25-20, while the final of game two was 25-17.
Then it was Washington on the other side of the net in the championship game. The Lady Lancers took this one 2-0 as well. Game one was never in doubt as they took it 25-14. The Blue Jays scored some late points to bring it close in game 2, but all for not, as the Lady Lancers won it 25-20, giving them the District crown once again.
The Lady Lancers will compete in Sectionals next. Sectionals take place Saturday Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. in Farmington versus Farmington. If the Lady Lancers win, they play the winner of the Cor Jesu Academy vs. St. Joseph’s Academy game at 6 p.m.
