Dantin seeks perfection while throwing

Like many throwers, senior Jessie Dantin got her start in middle school track.
“I got into throwing during the middle school track  season with  Coach (Bill) Garry. He thought I had potential,” she said.
Since then, Dantin has lived up to that potential. She throws varsity shot put and discus and currently holds the top personal records for both events this season, throwing 34’2 in shot put and 115’11 in discus.
“I love the feeling of a perfect throw, when everything is perfect and I hit all my positions and just watch it fly,” Dantin said.
Throwing is not always as easy as Dantin makes it look, though.
“The hardest part is learning to correct bad habits,” she said. “It’s easy to mess up a throw…it’s hard to correct it.”
Dantin also has some high hopes for the rest of the season.
“I would like to be able to hit 130 feet in the discus and 37 feet in the shot put this season,” she said.
