At the start of the season, everyone looks to start on the right foot and to make a good impression. Senior baseball player Jacob Ripp is no exception.

“Every off season I always look for something to improve on and when the start of the season comes along I want to showcase my ability and what I have improved on during the off season,” Ripp said.

In the opening game of the year against Rockwood Summit Falcons, Ripp got a key hit with the bases loaded that drove in two runs to extend Lafayette’s lead 3-0.

The lead would not last long and at the end of the game Lafayette was defeated by Rockwood Summit 6-5.

“Of course we would have loved to start the season off with a win, but in the first game everyone is getting back into form and I think we learned a lot,” Ripp said.

Ripp’s love of baseball has continued from his days in kindergarten to now, finishing off his senior season, he still enjoys the game.

“Each year something different is brought to the game that makes me appreciate it more and more and the drive to make my self a better player keeps me playing each day,” Ripp said.
