Many scholarship deadlines for seniors approaching

With scholarship deadlines approaching fast, the College Center has creates a list of local and private scholarships for seniors to apply for.
Many scholarships require an official transcript, a counselor’s signature, letters of recommendation, etc. All of this information requires the assistance of the College Specialist. In these cases, the college admissions specialists will, more often than not, state an earlier deadline in order to process these by the official deadline.
Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program
Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are offering a scholarship program for the fourth year. They will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s). The scholarship deadline is June 19. 2010. Student must submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of their web site: http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm.
AES Engineering Scholarship
The scholarship is intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. The amount of the award is $500.00, and deadline for entry is October 8, 2010. Further information is available at www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.
Alizadeh & Schreiner SmileMaker Scholarship
This award is open to seniors who plan to enter the health care profession. The scholarship amount is $750, and the application deadline is March 10, 2010. Information is available in Room 123.
Alpha Gamma Sigma Scholarship
Alpha Gamma Sigma has established a scholarship that is meant to reward male high school seniors who are intent upon attending the University of Missouri Columbia. Applications are available in Room 123 for this $500 scholarship. Applications are due June 1, 2010.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority/Gamma Omega Chapter
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is offering $1,000 scholarships to qualified students of the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Students must be seniors, possess a B or better average and have plans to enroll in a college/university during the fall term of 2010. The application deadline is March 15, 2010. Applications are available in Room 123. Forms may also be secured by going on the website www.akagammaomegastl.com.
Association of the U.S. Army
These scholarships recognize a student’s academic and leadership achievements and are available to high school seniors who have a parent who currently works for a defense contractor or a defense agency, a parent who currently is a member of any active or reserve component of the U.S. Army, a parent who served in the US Army, Guard or Reserve, or a student who is in a high school Army ROTC program. Applications are available in Room 123. Applicants must submit all materials no later than March 1, 2010.
Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship
Two awards of $500 are given annually in memory of the first Missourian to serve as National Commander of The American Legion. Eligible are individuals who are currently members of The American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, or the Sons of The American Legion, or descendant of a member of any thereof. Applications are available in Room 123. Completed applications should be mailed no later than April 20, 2010.
Jill Berni Memorial Scholarship
The applicant must demonstrate an interest in obtaining an education in culinary arts, dietetics, food service management or hospitality. Scholarship(s) up to $2,500 will be awarded. Applications are available in Room 123. All applications must be postmarked by April 2, 2010.
Black & White Ball Scholarship
Lindenwood University is offering two students in Missouri and the St. Louis Region a $7,000 annual scholarship. The scholarship is open to all incoming first-year students who meet the University’s requirements for admission and demonstrate academic success, leadership and financial need. Applications are available in Room 123. All documents must be postmarked by March 1, 2010.
Brickhouse Renaissance Scholarship
The Brickhouse Grill is sponsoring a scholarship for Lafayette Renaissance students. The scholarship will be awarded to one student in the amount of $1,500 or two students in the amount of $750 per student. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0, submit a resume of activities, demonstrate leadership in a school activity, and complete the short answer questions provided. Applications are available in room 123. Deadline to apply to Beth Brasel is Friday, March 26, 2010.
Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship
Seniors who have a score in the top 10% of the national percentile on the ACT can apply for this competitive national scholarship of up to $1,500 a year for their first four years of study in college. Applications are available in Room 123. Completed application packets must be submitted by April 15, 2010.
Charter Collegiate Scholarship Program
Applicants must be a high school senior, residing or attending a high school in a Charter Communications market in the state of Missouri or Illinois, with at least a 2.8 grade point average. Applications are available in Room 123. All applications must be postmarked no later than March 20, 2010.
Circle of Concern
Competition is open to students who live in or attend a Rockwood school. The competition targets young people from low to moderate income families. Applications are available in Room 121. Applications are due at Circle of Concern by Friday, April 2, 2010.
Class of 2002 Memorial Scholarship
The Class of 2002 is proud to award four separate scholarships, in the amount of $500 each, to four Lafayette Class of 2010 graduates. The scholarship in honor of Ryan Trigg will be awarded to a student who has participated in ROTC, the scholarship in honor of Eric Gabel will be given to a student who has attended Rockwood schools from K-12, the scholarship in honor of David Meyer will be awarded to a student who holds a part-time job and Bobby Maessen’s scholarship will be awarded to a student who exemplifies Christian values through school leadership. Applications are available in Room 123. All materials must be submitted to Beth Brasel in Room 121 by March 11.
Diane Christodoulou Memorial Scholarship
The purpose of this $500 scholarship is to aid Missouri students with learning disabilities in their endeavors to pursue higher education. Any Missouri graduating student with LD who can meet post-secondary entrance requirements is eligible to apply. Applications are available in Room 123. Application deadline is April 5, 2010.
The Dillenkoffer Endowment
The Dillenkoffer Endowment offers college tuition grants to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered high school seniors who plan to attend a college or university in Kansas or Missouri. You may apply for this scholarship at www.dillenkoffer.org. Applications are due by March 15, 2010.
EcoLife Stl
EcoLife Stl is offering a scholarship opportunity for high school seniors who are interested in environmental studies. The application process includes filling out information about why the applicant is interested in this field, and then finalists will create a video that the general public can vote for. The winner will receive a $10,000 scholarship to go towards their environmental efforts in college. Visit www.ecolifestl.com for additional information.
Greater St. Louis Art Association
The Greater St. Louis Art Association is offering scholarships to high school seniors in the St. Louis are who are planning to major in Art. Information and applications are available online at www.gslaa.org. The deadline is March 18, 2010.
Horizon Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who is a member of 1st Financial Federal Credit Union. Applications are available in Room 123. Applications must be received by April 3, 2010 to be considered.
Lafayette Area Optimist Club
The Lafayette Area Optimist Club has established this scholarship fund to provide financial assistance to deserving youth who wish to continue their education. The applicant must enroll in a university, college, Jr. College or Trade School in the U.S. Applications are available in Room 123. The application must be properly signed, notarized, and completed by the student and submitted to the Lafayette Area Optimist Club prior to April 1.
Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship Fund
Two awards of $1,000 each are given each year. One to a boy who has attended a full session of The American Legion Boys State of Missouri or a full session of the Department’s Cadet Patrol Academy. The second award is given to a girl who has attended a full session of The American Legion Auxiliary’s Girls State Program or a full session of the Department’s Cadet Patrol Academy. Applications are available in Room 123. Completed applications should be mailed no later than April 20, 2010.
Joseph J. Frank Scholarship
Five awards of $500.00 are given annually to individuals who are descendants of a veteran. The applicant must have attended a full session of The American Legion Boys State or The American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program. Applications are available in Room 123. Completed applications should be mailed no later than April 20, 2010.
Peter J. Greve Memorial TKE Alumni of Northwest Missouri State University
This $1,000 scholarship is available to graduating seniors (male or female). To be eligible applicants must have maintained a 3.0 gpa through the first semester of their senior year. The applicant must be an accepted entering freshman by Northwest Missouri State University and nominated by a TKE alumnus. Edward G. Halliburton Scholarship
Electro Savings Credit Union will begin accepting applications for the 2010 Edward G. Halliburton Scholarship on January 2, 2010. They will award three $1,000 college scholarships to the top three applicants as ranked by their Scholarship Committee. The applicant must be a member of Electro Savings Credit Union for at least a year. Applications will be available online at www.ElectroSavings.com. Completed applications must be postmarked by February 28, 2010.
McAllister’s Deli
This $500.00 scholarship will be awarded to a student interested in business. Preference will be given to a student who plans to enroll at Southeast Missouri State University. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 9, and applications are available in Room 123. Applications need to be turned in to Beth Brasel in Room 121.
Missouri Association of Building Officials and Inspectors
The applicant must have a declared major in such fields as code technology, engineering, architecture and fire science to receive this $1,000 scholarship. Applications are available in Room 123. All materials must be postmarked no later than February 28, 2010.
Missouri Insurance Education Foundation
Four $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to four seniors interested in or intending to pursue an insurance, risk management or actuarial science course of study in a Missouri college or university. Applications are available in Room 123. Deadline for this scholarship is March 31, 2010.
Missouri Mayflower Society Scholarship
This contest is open to any high school senior who is a resident of the State of Missouri and a Citizen of the United States. The scholarship is a one-time award of $500. An essay of no more than 750 words must be submitted on the topic “The Mayflower Pilgrims and their Interactions with the Native Americans.” The scholarship application deadline is March 1, 2010. Applications are available in Room 123 and online at www.ssttcccc.com/mayflower.
Missouri State Teachers Association Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is for a high school senior intending to major in the field of education. A statement of 250 words or less stating “Why I want to be a teacher” must be attached to the application. Applications are available in Room 123. Applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, March 5, 2010.
M.D. “Jack” Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Fund
Currently one $750 award is given for two successive semesters, and may, by application, be extended for two additional successive semesters. This award is available to a Missouri boy or girl training to be a Registered Nurse, and may be used in their freshman or subsequent college years. The student must have graduated in the top forty percent of their high school class. Scholarships are awarded for one year, payable $375 per semester. Applications are available in Room 123. Completed applications should be mailed no later than April 20, 2010.
National Defense Transportation Association Scholarship
The purpose of the NDTA Scott/St. Louis Chapter scholarship program is to promote careers in business, transportation logistics, and physical distribution. The Scott/St. Louis Chapter of the NDTA intends to award a minimum of two scholarships of $3500 each and four scholarships of $2000 each. Applications are available in Room 123. All applications must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2010.
Pepsico Scholarship
PepsiCo is partnering with the Hispanic College Fund to promote higher ed among Hispanic students. The 2009 Pepsi Hispanic Heritage Month program offers information and resources to help students through the college app process on a bilingual website (http://www.buildurdestiny.com or http://www.construyetudestino.com). Applicants must submit paperwork by March 1, 2010 for consideration.
Robert V. Pirrie Memorial Scholarship
The Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors is offering this scholarship. The purpose of this award is to encourage students going to college to major in land surveying or a land surveying related field. Applications are available in room 123. Deadline for this scholarship is March 31, 2010.
Ranken Technical College Scholarship
Rankin has a grant for students interested in pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Architectural Technology, Industrial Technology, or Precision Machining Technology. Anyone interested in these fields should contact David Rea at drea@cisco.com.
Rockwood National Education Association Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded in two ways: one scholarship will be awarded to an RNEA member’s child, and three scholarships will be awarded to any student in the Rockwood School District who wants to become a teacher. An applicant must be a graduating senior and have an accumulative grade point of 3.0 or higher. Applications are available in room 123. All forms must be returned to the college specialist by April 12, 2010.
St. Louis Personnel Placement Directors Association Educator’s Scholarship
This scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is for a graduating senior who attends high school in a CSD/MOREAP affiliated school district. This scholarship may be used for tuition and books and must be used in the pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Applications are available in room 123. Completed applications are due no later than March 26, 2010.
Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY)
This scholarship in the amount of $7500 recognizes outstanding student athletes in grade 12 from high schools throughout the U.S. Twenty-five winners will be selected based on 5 criteria: academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership, community service, and milk experience. SAMMY 2010 applications will only be accepted online at www.bodybymilk.com until March 5, 2010.
Student-View Scholarship Program
The scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications. Simply log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. The scholarship deadline is April 22, 2010.
James L. and Nellie M. Westlake Scholarship Program
Seniors in Missouri are eligible to apply for this scholarship program which focuses on students with gpa’s of 2.5 or higher and who have a strong financial need.
