The Rockwood School District has announced the candidates for this year’s Board of Education election.

Five candidates will vie for two open seats. Current board members Steve Banton and Janet Strate are up for re-election.

Linda D. Francois, Vincent R. Shorter and Tina M. Stinnett are also hoping to earn a seat on the board.

The board is a group of seven members chosen to administer the district’s budget, policies and goals. Candidates must be at least 24 years of age. Any citizen of the United States who is a resident taxpayer of the district and a resident of the state for at least one year is considered eligible.

Elections will be held on April 6, 2010.
