Anyone who has had a computer crash on them knows what it’s like to lose all of your music. There are ways to recover all of your tunes and to put them onto your brand new PC or Mac straight from your iPod.
For Mac users there is an application called Senuti which can transfer up to 1,000 songs from an iPod to a Mac for free. Senuti looks very similar to the layout of iTunes so it is fairly easy to navigate.
Step By Step
- Start Senuti with your iPod/iTouch plugged in
- From the Senuti menu open up preferences.
- In the Preferences window switch over to the Copying Tab.
- Check the box under iTunes labeled “Automatically Add Songs To iTunes Library”
- Close the preferences window and go through your library and select the songs you want to transfer to iTunes.
- Click the button in the top left hand corner of Senuti labeled transfer.
- Your songs are now in your iTunes library.
For PC owners there is another very easy and free program that can be downloaded to recover all of your music and other files. This program is called PodToPC and it can be downloaded from many websites, but I recommend getting it from podtopc.com seeing as it is free and makes viruses less likely. Pod To PC also looks and works similar to iTunes so the layout should not be too confusing.
Step By Step
- Download and install the program.
- Open Pod To PC and wait for the program to load then plug your iPod in.
- When this happens you are going to want to close iTunes and make sure the iPod does not start to auto sync, which can be turned off in the iTunes menu.
- Once your iPod has been detected and you have selected the songs you want to transfer click the big Transfer button in the bottom left corner of the screen.
