Senior Matt Slimmer has left his mark on Lafayette through small acts of hilarity: a zombie invasion prank that swept through the senior class, his vice president position in the Lafayette Anime Club and a love of gaming.
You stared the senior class zombie invasion. What was the inspiration behind this prank?
I’ve been a fan of the zombie apocalypse genre for some time now and I wanted to do my own senior prank. I went through a few other options but turned them all down. The armband idea actually came from a web comic and it evolved from there and got a lot bigger than I would have expected.
What are your duties as vice president of Anime Club?
I’m the one who organizes meetings, calms everyone down so we can actually watch the movie and schedules culture days where we eat unique foods. Ever since Mrs. IF [sponsor Dawn Indelifaco-Faw] has been away on maternity leave, I have also been organizing rooms.
As an anime fan, what is the strangest cosplay outfit you have ever seen?
I once saw a sexy Ninjutsu Naruto. As you can imagine, I was scared for weeks.
Would you consider yourself a serious Pokemon fan?
Yes. I am a serious Pokemon fan. I still play all of the games and have a huge collection of the cards. I also used to watch the show each Saturday.
What would you say is your oddest quirk or habit?
I’ll be on one topic and suddenly switch to another one. I am also a big sucker for inside jokes.
