Exploration offers free alternative to pricey activities

We’ve all heard how bad the economic situatuion is, and for cash-strapped teenagers, this might mean taking it easy on summer activities, as going to movies, ball-games and amusement parks can easily add up to hundreds a month.

That’s why I suggest going out and exploring St. Louis. It doesn’t matter whether your downtown or even in your neighborhood, there’s nothing like wandering around a new area.

There are multiple benefits to just getting out there. First of all, you get to take a break from our Xbox and Facebook dominated society and actually see your natural surroundings. Along with this, a certain feeling of freedom comes when you don’t really know where your headed.

You can explore in many different ways, walking to a vacant lot, biking on a new trail or even just using those neighborhood tennis courts you forgot about. Either way, your going somewhere new, for free.

And for those who think it would be boring, never forget that an open field just begs for a game of frisbee or even football.

Just be careful of trespassing, it might not always be obvious who’s land it is. So get out there, do something different and save some bucks.
